A Book For The Eye

Eye of the Sword by Karyn Henley is a book with an excellent storyline and fascinating characters. Henley has an imagination that is amazing when it comes to supernatural fantasy. The book includes physical angels, nephili, winged horses, and more. Who would have thought that angels and men could coexist together and actually see each other! Furthermore, Henley makes no qualms when it comes to getting the point across that not confessing your sins to one another is a miserable way to live. While this book is not as fast paced as some books, it is definitely worth the read for any young christian reader or otherwise.

In Henley's fantasy world, Trevin must fight to find the harps and save his princess from a disastrous marriage. While dedicated to his quest, he soon realizes that he must admit his past grievances to those he most loves. Refusing to do so will only leave him in constant doubt and guilt of his dedication to the king. While the plot is a typical fairy tale in some respects, in others it is quite unique.

The one weakness in this book is the quantity of important characters to keep track of. It is easy to get lost because one often forgets the role of certain characters. Thankfully, Henley included a Cast of Characters at the beginning of the book that keeps the reader from getting twisted up in the many names.

This book is not a perfect one by any means, but it is most definitely worth the read. I found it fascinating, fantastic, and inspiring. Do not let this one sit on the shelf and collect dust!

Eye of the Sword was given to me for free by Waterbrook Multonomah Publishing Group. I was not required to give a positive review to receive this book!
